Internship Opportunities
Charles Group Consulting is always seeking energetic, bright, resourceful, and capable interns to assist our firm in providing exceptional service to our clients. Candidates should be highly motivated and have strong interpersonal skills. Interns will assist the firm in all aspects of government affairs consulting and will have a unique opportunity to shadow our professional lobbyists at the Massachusetts State House. Responsibilities may include:
Writing for our client-tailored newsletter
Visiting offices in the State House to perform literature drops and speak on behalf of client issues
Drafting memos, press briefings, or other literature
Performing research or organizational tasks for clients
Given the importance of in-person events and our interns’ role in facilitating work at the State House, we do require that are interns are able to commute to our Boston office at least once a week.
While most of our interns are pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in political science, public policy, or law, we welcome applicants of all backgrounds and degree levels. For interns pursuing unpaid internships, we are happy to assist with any requirements needed to fulfill course credit.
Past interns have gone on to work in a variety of fields, including law, public health, public policy, nonprofits, and federal and state government.
Our internship programs run as follows to align with university semesters:
Spring: January - May
Summer: June - August
Fall: September - December
We expect interns to typically commit to 15-18 hours a week of scheduled work, but have accommodated as low as 12 hours and as high as 24 hours. Please note in your application if you have specific constraints.
Albie Sherman Intern Scholarship - $2500 Semester Stipend
Charles Group offers ONE intern scholarship per semester, named the Albie Sherman Scholarship after founder Charles Glick’s wonderful mentor. Albie was the long-time vice-chancellor at the UMass Medical School and a prominent fixture at the Massachusetts State House through his work.
